Reporting Dangerous Motorists.

Dial *277 on your cell phone to report dangerous motorists to the Colorado Highway Patrol. If you don't report these hazards to your life, who will?

To be prepared to make the report, do this:

  • Carry pencil and paper.

  • When you see a dangerous motorist, get all the information you can including:

  • license plate (the Highway Patrol can do nothing without it),

  • make and model of the car,

  • a description of the driver,

  • a description of the events,

  • information about other witnesses,

  • date and time, and

  • place.

  • Pull to the side of the road.

  • Write the information down.

  • Dial *277

  • Report what you have witnessed.

What is a dangerous motorist?

A dangerous motorist is one who:

  • exhibits signs of road rage with high speed, tailgating, and aggressive behavior;

  • throws objects from his vehicle at you;

  • stops or slows down to threaten you in anyway;

  • does not give you your place on the road; or

  • is drunk

Does reporting dangerous motorists doing any good?

Ask Jason Benjamin Reynolds, 32,  of Parker. Reynolds was arrested and placed in jail without bond on November 8,  2005. Robert's alleged crime was murdering two fellow motorists by causing a tragic accident with his road rage. He had been reported seven times before for other road rage incidents on *277. The Colorado Highway Patrol was preparing to send him a letter concerning his actions. These reports will be part of the case against Reynolds. Additional details...
