Colorado Brevet Series 2003 --
Schedule
· RMCC Membership - Membership in the Rocky
Mountain Cycling Club is required, for insurance reasons.
· Sign-In/Inspection/Departure -
All riders depart together at the
prescribed departure time. Be ready to sign in and have your bicycle
inspected at least one half hour before departure and especially for
the shorter (better attended) brevets,
plan to arrive an hour before departure.
· Pre-Registration - Pre-registration allows us to staff and supply the ride
appropriately. If the ride must be cancelled or rescheduled, registered
riders can be informed. Pre-registrants may also receive materials such as
route maps in advance.
· Qualifying - If a brevet requires pre-qualification, the event director
will contact you after you register.
· Rules - Please read the brevet rules carefully
before coming to the ride. On the rules page, you will also find the waiver which riders sign on day-of-event
sign in. Bonne route!

Horsetooth - Poudre Canyon - then the 12% to 15% grades up to scenic, backcountry
Stove Prairie. Wintry weather alternate: Horsetooth - Rawhide course, climbs

Superior - Platteville - Lefthand Canyon -
St. Vrain Canyon - Horsetooth – Wellington -
Climbs Lefthand
Canyon (4500 ft. of climbing to 9250 ft.), descends St. Vrain Canyon, then
climbs Carter Lake and south Horsetooth Reservoir. 14,000 ft. climbing.
Similar to last 4 years’ routes. Lights required. Registration required by May 17. |

Superior - Brighton - St. Vrain Canyon -
Estes Park - Big Thompson Canyon - Horsetooth - Wellington – Evans -
Climbs St. Vrain Canyon (4300 ft. of climbing to 9200 ft.),
descending past Estes Park through Big Thompson Canyon, over south
Horsetooth Reservoir and out onto the Plains through Wellington and
Windsor. 18,000 ft. of climbing. Similar to the last 4 years’
routes. Lights required. Registration required by
June 1. |

The first 400km follows the 400km route, followed by an excursion
down the South Platte to Fort Morgan, and a
final climb up Big Thompson Canyon. Lights required. Subject to cancellation. Registration required by June

climbing in first 80 miles), a rolling return via Palmer Lake and

Fairplay - Buena Vista - Independence Pass -
Aspen - The
Joe Lookingbill Memorial 300km Brevet reprising the Denver-Aspen Classic
course, with 13,000 ft. of climbing over Kenosha, Red Hill, Trout Creek, and
Independence Passes. RUSA-sanctioned but not ACP-sanctioned.
Lights required. Registration required by July

· Prepare for the spring Brevets - Spring populaires help you build conditioning and pacing
for the brevets that start the next month (in May).
· Learn about Paris-Brest-Paris and RUSA - Populaires are a good chance to learn about Randonneurs USA and think about PBP.
