MAINTENANCE
WORK TO BEGIN ON THE C-470 BIKE TRAIL THIS WEEK [4/24]
DOUGLAS
COUNTY
– Tomorrow
[4/26],
weather permitting, the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will begin
work on the C-470 bicycle/pedestrian trail near
Wadsworth Boulevard. The project will clean two
structures on the trail, one near
Wadsworth Boulevard
and another under C-470.
Cleaning
operations on the bike path will take place Monday [4/24] through Friday from 8 a.m. to
3 p.m. and will cause some minor delays up to 10 minutes for pedestrians or
bicyclists as flaggers will be assisting traffic through the work zone.
Variable message boards have been placed in neighborhoods close to the
trail to inform users of the work and possible delays.
Work
will begin near
Wadsworth Boulevard
and will take approximately one week to complete.
Once work is complete at the
Wadsworth Boulevard
structure, crews will move to the structure under C-470.
Work at the second location should be complete in approximately one week
as well. All work is weather
permitting.
Additional
work will take place on the trail between
University Boulevard
and
Quebec Street
to replace damaged asphalt. This
work will take place Monday [4/24] through Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will
require bicyclists to dismount and walk around the work.
The asphalt work will begin Thursday, April 27th and will only
take a couple of days to complete. All
work is weather permitting.
“We
understand this work will impact the citizens that utilize this pathway, but the
work will enhance the trail,” said CDOT Bicycle and Pedestrian Coordinator
Betsy Jacobsen. “If we don’t
receive a lot of precipitation, the work will only take a couple of weeks.
When it is complete, bicyclist and pedestrians will enjoy a better
trail.”
