The
2004 Last Chance,
the longest brevet we have, and the Grand Loop are honored to be John
Marino Challenge (JMC) events worth 4 difficulty points. JMC
competitors must be members of the UMCA to count their events in the
challenge.
Stove Prairie Is Back!
– The Stove Prairie road reconstruction is now finished, so we can
return to this challenging, scenic route for our May and September
200k’s (barring wintry inclement weather).
Black Forest 200km,
July 31 – NEW event with a NEW route, echoing the popular spring
300km.
New Populaires –
Two additional RMCC club rides are now populaires: the Airport Loop (July
18) and the Apple Valley ride (October 2), making for six populaires in
all.
Denver-Aspen 300km
– Now an ACP-sanctioned brevet, again finishing up at rustic Woody
Creek.
Grand Loop 310km RUSA
Brevet – For 2004, the Grand Loop will be sanctioned as a RUSA
(though not ACP) brevet – this will not affect the course, cost, or en
route support, but you can now get RUSA credit for “mile for mile, the
toughest event the RMCC offers.”
Peak-to-Peak 300km
– NEW event with a NEW route, climbing Coal Creek Canyon, riding the
Peak-to-Peak Highway to Estes Park, and descending Devil’s Gulch for
cinnamon rolls.
Last Chance 1200km Is
Back! – After time off during the PBP year, the Last Chance is back,
with some route refinements and potential points of interest, such as Prairie
Dog State Park.
